Marcel Heijnen is a visual artist, designer and musician. Originally from the Netherlands, Asia has been his home for over 22 years. Marcel’s creativity is driven by a general curiosity about life and its meaning. He currently uses photography as the main medium for his art, exploring its boundaries in a quest for beauty and expression that goes beyond realism, but gets perhaps a little closer to truth.
Marcel finished a new series called 'BLOOM' and his new work is exclusively sold in Europe by our gallery. In the tradition of 'RESIDUE' he produced a beautifull new series of stillifes. A combination of abstract and figurative art, an interesting new style in stillife photography. Unique, fragile and exotic.
Over the past few years he has had solo exhibitions at Month of Photography Asia, Vue Privée and Galeri Utama. He has participated in numerous group shows and the Affordable Art Fairs in both Singapore and Hong Kong.
In the Residue series Marcel Heijnen combines two of his passions: photographing textures on weathered walls and surfaces & photographing reflective surfaces in which to mirror their surroundings. A few images of ‘the man at work’ can be seen in the album at the end of this page. Like so very often, one image can tell you more then a thousand words.
