Het Stedelijk Museum Vianen toont deze zomer de expositie Lens+Water.
In deze fotografietentoonstelling zie je water door een letterlijk en figuurlijk andere lens. De zee, meren, rivieren en dus ook De Lek zijn al eeuwenlang een plek waar kunstenaars naartoe komen om te schilderen, tekenen of in prent te brengen. Door de introductie van de fotografie in het midden van de negentiende eeuw veranderde de kunst drastisch. Omdat de camera de hele omgeving heel precies kon vastleggen, was er voor kunstenaars geen reden meer om datzelfde na te streven. Toch bleek al snel dat fotografie niet zo objectief is als het in eerste instantie lijkt te zijn. De fotograaf kiest een locatie, de compositie, de lichtval, maar ook de eventuele nabewerking. Daarmee maken fotografen hun werk uiterst persoonlijk. Al vroeg in de negentiende eeuw ontstond zo de kunstfotografie als eigen genre, een nieuwe kunstvorm tussen de eeuwenoude technieken.
Lens+Water
In Lens+Water tonen het museum het werk van topfotografen die elk op hun unieke eigen manier een relatie tot water hebben. Bovendien laten het museum zien hoe fotografie als medium veel meer is dan een kant en klare afbeelding. De stijl van de fotograaf net zo persoonlijk is als die van een schilder of beeldhouwer. Ontdek hoeveel invloed de compositie, de bewerking en de kunstgeschiedenis hebben op de uiteindelijke foto. In de tentoonstelling toont Stedelijk Museum Vianen het werk van fotografen als Marie-Claire Greve, Maartje Roos, Alex Timmermans en anderen.

This summer, the Stedelijk Museum Vianen presents the exhibition Lens+Water.
In this photography exhibition, you see water through a different lens, both literally and figuratively. The sea, lakes, rivers, and therefore also the Lek River, have for centuries been places where artists have come to paint, draw, or create prints. The introduction of photography in the mid-nineteenth century drastically changed art. Because the camera could capture the entire environment with such precision, there was no longer any reason for artists to strive for the same. However, it soon became apparent that photography is not as objective as it initially appears. The photographer chooses the location, the composition, the lighting, and also any post-processing. This allows photographers to make their work highly personal. Thus, art photography emerged as a distinct genre early in the nineteenth century, a new art form among centuries-old techniques.
Lens+Water
In Lens+Water, the museum showcases the work of top photographers, each of whom has a unique relationship with water. Moreover, the museum demonstrates how photography as a medium is much more than a ready-made image. A photographer's style is as personal as that of a painter or sculptor. Discover how composition, editing, and art history influence the final image.
